About Us
MycoRoots Dorset CIC is a community-led non-profit founded by Jessica—a neighbour in Wimborne Minster, mother of two, and someone inspired by faith and a love for creation. Born from personal experience and the belief that nothing is ever truly wasted, we collect organic waste from homes and local businesses, transforming it into sustainable, biodegradable products. Our mission is to show that even what’s discarded can be renewed, bringing hope and restoration to our community.
Our promise
At MycoRoots Dorset CIC, we promise to honour every contribution—no matter how small—as part of a greater mission to restore, renew, and reimagine what waste can become. We are committed to:
- Serving our community with integrity and care
- Transforming organic waste into sustainable, biodegradable products
- Reducing environmental impact through innovation and collaboration
- Uplifting lives by showing that nothing—and no one—is ever truly wasted
We promise to walk this journey with transparency, compassion, and purpose—because we believe that even discarded things can grow into something beautiful.

Discover MycoRoots Dorset
Hi, I’m Jessica—your neighbour in Wimborne Minster, a mother of two girls, and someone deeply moved by the beauty of creation and the resilience of the human spirit.
This initiative didn’t start as a business—it began as a conviction: that nothing is ever truly wasted. Every experience, every moment, has a purpose.
I grew up in a country where poverty and hopelessness were part of daily life. I saw how addiction, like the one my brother faced, stripped people of dignity, and how society often failed to respond with compassion. But I believe in redemption. I believe that people—and even the things we throw away—can be renewed.
For years, I’ve searched for a way to transform that reality, and I’m still searching. One day, in my kitchen, everything made sense as I began experimenting with waste materials like coffee grounds and a piece of guadua (bamboo) I had brought from Colombia. Through research, I discovered mycelium—a living organism that transforms what seems useless into new life. That moment revealed to me that restoration is possible, even in the smallest things.
And so, this initiative was born. I founded this non-profit Community Interest Company to collect green waste from gardens and local businesses in my community—not just to recycle, but to remind us all that everything can be redeemed. Every leaf, every branch, every act of service is a seed of hope.
My desire is that, through this project, I might touch lives—even if just one at a time—and show that love can transform even what others have given up on.
